Agnes A. Rice
OTTAWA - Agnes A. Rice, 94, of Ottawa died at 8:32 p.m. Thursday, May 28, 2015 at Bridge Hospice of Findlay. She was born April 28, 1921 in Siberia, Russia to the late Aaron and Agnes (Weibe) Warkentin. In January of 1940 she married Melvin R. Rice who died in 1984.
She is survived by a son, Thomas (Jeannine) Rice of Williston, FL; 5 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren. Agnes was also preceded in death by a son, Dale E. Rice, 3 sisters, Alice Frey, Helen Hilty, and Lydia Merschman and 2 brothers, Jacob and John Warkentin.
Agnes was a self-employed seamstress. She was a member of Ottawa Presbyterian Church where she was past president of the Women's Lodge, an Elder for 15 years, and past Noble Grand of Rebekah Lodge. She was active with the Ottawa Council on Aging and Brookhill, and was a member of the Profit and Pleasure Club.
A Funeral Service will be held 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at Ottawa Presbyterian Church with Pastor Lynn Bova officiating. Burial will follow in Harman Cemetery, Gilboa. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Ottawa Presbyterian Church or to MCC Mennonite Relief.
