Albert R. Pratt, Sr.

OAKWOOD – Albert R. Pratt, Sr., 89 of Oakwood passed away at 11:24 a.m. on Friday, November 24, 2023 at Defiance Inpatient Hospice Center.  He was born January 18, 1934 in Hartsburg to the late Roy and Elsie (Brown) Pratt.  On August 25, 1951, he married Faith D. Addis who preceded him in death on August 27, 2007.

He is survived by his loving companion, Karen Davenport of Oakwood.  He had four children: Albert R. Pratt, Jr., deceased, Velma D. Pratt, deceased, Thelma A. (Sam) Pratt-Ramey of Sherwood, and June A. (Earl) Hicks of Paulding; two grandchildren whom he considered his children: Jason (Tracy) Pratt and Jennifer (Kade) Missler; 7 grandchildren, many great- grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a surviving sister, Alma Rhodes; and 13 deceased brothers and sisters: Grace McCague, Elnore Runion, Alice Fulmar, Norma Showalter, Ida Wyatt, Bonnie Gilbert, Edna Pratt, Rolland Pratt, Jason Pratt, Joe Pratt, Delmar Pratt, Paul Pratt, and David Pratt.

Albert was a millwright at General Motors, Defiance where he retired on February 1, 1993.  He was an Army Veteran, and a member of Mount Zion United Methodist Church, Local 211, Defiance Masonic Lodge, and Defiance Moose.

Funeral Service will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Oakwood with Pastor Dave Prior officiating.  Burial will follow in Prairie Chapel Cemetery, Oakwood with military rites.  Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the funeral home.
