Alcario Flores

OTTAWA - Alcario Flores, Sr., 91, of Ottawa died 6:28 p.m., Friday, January 28, 2022 at Mercy Health St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.  He was born March 25, 1930 in Taft, TX to the late Marcus Sr. and Manuela (Coronado) Flores.  He had been married to Sofia Enriquez Flores and she is deceased.

Survivors include eight sons: Al (Kathy) Flores, Jr. of Ottawa, Bobby (Kerry) Flores of Lima, Leroy Flores of Ottawa, David (Leigh) Flores of Leipsic, Dennis (Anna) Flores of Ottawa, Lester (Beth) Flores of Ottawa, Steve (Jaya) Flores of Lima and Gerard (Sally) Flores of Baytown, TX; eight daughters: Sue (Tony) Nieto of Ottawa, Diana (John) Nieto of Ottawa, Shirley (Senon) Garcia of Findlay, Thelma (Jeff) Flores McLaurin of Ottawa, Velma (Allen) Brown of Ottawa, Ruth Flores of Ottawa, Lisa (Lee) Flores Torres of Ottawa and Joy (Tremayne) Flores Sullivan of Ottawa; 62 grandchildren; 100 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren; and siblings: Esperanza (Ignacio) Medrano of San Antonio, TX, Bernice Flores of Cotulla, TX, Reymundo Marcus (Estela) Flores, Jr. of Cotulla, TX and Juan (Cathy) Flores of Joliet, IL

He was also preceded in death by and infant son, David Flores; and infant daughter, Suzanna Flores; a granddaughter, Kory Flores; two great-grandsons: Laine Romero and Dante Flores Schiffler; and four siblings: Maria (Simon) Mata, Jesusa (Mauncio) Viesca, Antonia (Juan) Ruiz and Jose Flores.

Alcario drove truck for Libby's in Leipsic and Buckeye Sugar in Ottawa.  He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa.  He enjoyed listening to music and taking walks.  Alcario was one of the last survivors of the first generation of Hispanic families of Putnam County.

Funeral mass will begin at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa with Fr. Scott Kramer officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Monday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa with a scripture service at 7:50 p.m.  Masks are required in the funeral home and church.
