Alfrieda C. Schroeder

GLANDORF – Alfrieda C. Schroeder, 100 of Glandorf, passed away at 5:20 p.m. on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at the Meadows of Ottawa. She was born on February 6, 1923, in Miller City to the late Bernard and Anna (Siebeneck) Niese. On November 29, 1952, she married Paul J. Schroeder, who preceded her in death on January 9, 2006.

Alfrieda is survived by a daughter, Phyllis (Cy) Vorst of Glandorf; two grandchildren: Lindsey (Kyle) Metzger of Ottawa and Brent Vorst of Glandorf; two great-grandchildren: Calvin Metzger and Hazel Vorst; and a sister-in-law, Mary Alice Niese.

She was preceded in death by three sisters: Coletta Bockrath, Mary Verhoff and Leona Alt; six brothers: Urban, Hugo, Edmund, Wilford, Arnold and Amos Niese; a granddaughter-in-law, Dana Vorst; and a great-granddaughter, Eleanor Vorst.

Alfrieda retired from Philip Display Components. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf. Alfrieda enjoyed gardening and playing cards. She especially loved spending time with her great-grandchildren. They were always able to bring the biggest smile to her face.

Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 27, 2023 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf with Fr. Matt Keller officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2 - 7 p.m. on Sunday, where a scripture service will be held at 1:45 p.m. at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa.
