Alice Magdeline Elchinger
NEW BAVARIA – Alice Magdeline Elchinger, 94, of New Bavaria died peacefully at 5:50 p.m. Thursday, July 19, 2012 at The Meadows of Ottawa-Glandorf. She was born June 22, 1918 in Glandorf to the late Henry and Adeline (Recker) Duling. On June 21, 1941 she married Paul Elchinger who died July 31, 1984.
Surviving are 4 children: Sharon (Eugene) Kuhlman of Leipsic, Kenneth (Paula) Elchinger of Ottawa, June Rose of Ft. Wayne, IN, and Marjorie (Steven) Noirot of Wauseon; 11 grandchildren: Lisa Kuhlman, Gina Kuhlman, Erin (Jason) Miller, Erica (Tim) Sarka, Paul (Jennifer) Elchinger, Christopher Elchinger, Kent Bozlinski, Krista Bozlinski, Rachel Noirot, Jessica (Christopher) Marlatt and Chandler Noirot; and 10 great-grandchildren: Christina Negray, Gianna Miller, Isaac Salisbury, Tyson Salisbury, Logan Miller, Morgan Miller, Reagan Miller, Jade Sarka, Caroline Sarka and Kayleigh Elchinger.
She was also preceded in death by an infant daughter: Mary Lou Elchinger; a granddaughter: Ann (Kuhlman) Salisbury; 2 brothers: Edwin and Stanley Duling; and 5 sisters: Mary Duling, Emma Kahle, Irene Fortman, Laura Wortkoetter and Wilma Duling.
Alice was a homemaker but was employed in the workforce during WWII. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, New Bavaria and its Rosary Altar and Catholic Ladies of Columbia Societies. She enjoyed being with her family, playing cards, bingo, sewing, music, cooking and baking.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 23, 2012 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, New Bavaria with Fr. George Wenzinger officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa where there will be a rosary at 7:00 p.m.
