Alice T. Schroeder
OTTAWA – Alice T. Schroeder, 87, of Ottawa, died at 11:40 p.m. Sunday, February 12, 2012 at The Meadows of Ottawa-Glandorf. She was born May 5, 1924 in Cuba, OH to the late Hubert and Mary T. (Vennekotter) Verhoff. On August 27, 1947, she married Robert A. Schroeder. He died May 11, 2006.
Surviving are 8 children: Mary Ann (Patrick) Imm of Deshler, James (Ginny) Schroeder of Glandorf, Charles (Rosemary) Schroeder of Glandorf, Jerome (Diane) Schroeder of Glandorf, Nick (Sharon) Schroeder of Ottawa, Mark (Tamara) Schroeder of Glandorf, Lois (Keith) Lammers of Glandorf and Beth (Peter) Bensen of Downers Grove, IL; 23 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters: Dolorosa Schnipke of Glandorf, Mary Jane Youngpeter of Landeck; 2 brothers: Victor (Lore) Verhoff of Cuba and Carl (Bernice) Verhoff of Glandorf. She was preceded in death also by a grandson: Jacob M. Schroeder and 2 sisters: Agnes Burgei and Dorothy Verhoff; 3 brothers-in-law: Robert Burgei, Othmar Schnipke and Frank Youngpeter.
Alice was a homemaker. She was a member of St. John The Baptist Church, and its Altar Rosary Society. She was a member of Ottawa American Legion Auxiliary Post 63. She enjoyed cooking, baking, canning, sewing, quilting, playing cards and bingo. Alice's family, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, friends and neighbors were very special in her life and she truly loved her trips with her husband.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 16, 2012 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf with Fr. Tony Fortman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa where there will be an American Legion Auxiliary service at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday and Parish Rosary at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
