ALOYSIUS G. "AL" WARNECKE
KALIDA - Aloysius G. "Al" Warnecke, 98, of Kalida, died 9:00 a.m., Sunday, April 7, 2013, at The Meadows of Kalida. He was born June 19, 1914, in Glandorf, to the late Joseph and Mary (Smith) Warnecke. On April 30, 1941 he married Anna Marie Schroeder and she survives in Kalida.
Also surviving are his children: Paul (Cathy) Warnecke, Ken (Shari) Warnecke, Mark (Ann) Warnecke all of Kalida, Joe Warnecke of Ottawa, John (Barbara) Warnecke of Glandorf, Dave (Brenda) Warnecke of Kalida, Julianna (James) Landin of Ottoville, Helen (Leon) Meyer of Glandorf, Virginia (Jack) Gajewski of Delmar, NY, Karen Warnimont of Miller City, and Donna (Rick) Rosengarten of Glandorf; 37 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; 2 step-great-grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Donna Warnecke of McCutchenville.
He was preceded in death by 6 brothers: Leonard, Joseph, Urban, Leo, Walter and Sylvester; 3 sisters: Odelia Meyer, Mary Birkemeier and Helen Warnecke; and a son-in-law Richard Warnimont.
Mr. Warnecke was a retired farmer, past agent for Asgrow Seed Company and formerly worked as a seasonal worker at the Buckeye Sugar Company. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Kalida and it's Holy Name Society and Fr. Michael Muehe Council 5669 Knights of Columbus where he was a past Grand Knight; the Ottawa Eagles, a lifetime member of the Farmer's Union and Past President NFO. Al was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and provider for his family. He enjoyed praying the rosary, playing cards, gardening and telling jokes.
A Mass of Christian Burial will begin 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Kalida with Fr. Mark Hoying officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday and from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa. There will be a K of C rosary service at 7:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
