Alphonse L. Averesch
GLANDORF - Alphonse L. Averesch, 77, of Glandorf died 9:15 p.m., Friday, November 9, 2018 at Blanchard Valley Hospital in Findlay. He was born February 15, 1941 in Miller City to the late Louis and Rosa (Duling) Averesch. He was raised by his mother and late step-father, Alfred Jim Maag. On April 8, 1961, he married Carolyn "Sue" Frueh. She died October 21, 2009.
Survivors include five sons: Douglas ( Denise) Averesch of Leipsic, Scott (Dawn) Averesch of Kalida, Jeffery (Peg) Averesch of Glandorf, Brian (Johnna) Averesch of Van Wert and Joshua (Tasheena) Averesch of Glandorf; fifteen grandchildren: Benjamin (Trisha) Averesch, Kendra (D'ante) Barginere, Holly Averesch, Scotti Averesch, Jennifer Averesch, Courtney Riffle, Madison Averesch, Haley Averesch, David Averesch, Megan Averesch, Laura (Aaron) Adkins, Christopher Averesch, Jonathan Averesch, Kirsten Averesch and Preston Averesch; three great-grandchildren: Alexx Minerding, Braelynn Averesch and Issaiah Garcia; a sister, Helen Meyer of Glandorf, a brother, Vincent Averesch of Lima and a sister-in-law, JoAnn Averesch of Ottawa.
He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Michelle "Sheli" Averesch; a sister, Marcel Faber; two brothers: Aloysius Averesch and Jerome Averesch; a brother-in-law, Ron Meyer and a sister-in-law, Mary Margaret "Butch" Averesch.
Alphonse retired after 44 years with Purina Land O' Lakes, Lima. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf, Ottawa Eagles and Indian Lake Moose. He enjoyed NASCAR, the Ohio State Buckeyes, Cincinnati Reds Baseball and John Deere. His farm was certified as a Century Farm existing for over 107 years. Alphonse was always helping others and would give the shirt off of his back for those in need. He was warm and loving.
A mass of Christian burial will begin at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf with Fr. Tony Fortman officiating. Burial will following the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa where a scripture service will begin at 1:45 p.m. and a parish rosary at 7:30 p.m.
Memorial donations may be made to the Putnam County Cancer Assistance Program (CAP) or to the Alzheimer's Association.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the Dr's, nurses and staff at Blanchard Valley Hospital for the excellent care given to our dad.
