Alvera D.  "Vera" Verhoff

CONTINENTAL - Alvera D. "Vera" Verhoff, 88,  of Continental, died at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, December 28, 2017 at The Meadows of Kalida. She was born October 16, 1929 in Leipsic to the late William and Marcella (Kuhlman) Lehman. On August 28, 1951 she married Fred W. Verhoff who survives in Continental.

Also surviving are five children, Eugene (Tammy) Verhoff of Continental, Doris (Michael) Tobe of Ottawa, Patrick (Valerie) Verhoff of Miller City, Gregory (Cathy) Verhoff and Oran (Kelly) Verhoff both of Continental; a daughter-in-law, Jackie Verhoff of Continental; twenty grandchildren; thirty-three great-grandchildren and one on-the-way; two brothers, Carl (Joan) Lehman of Ottawa and Joe (Janet) Lehman of Florida; a sister, Annette (Robert) Meyer of Columbus Grove; and a brother-in-law, Bernard Ellerbrock of Leipsic. Vera was also preceded in death by a daughter, Marilyn Verhoff; a son, Clarence Verhoff; a sister, Donna Marie Ellerbrock; a granddaughter, Stephanie Verhoff; and a daughter-in-law, Nancy Verhoff.

Vera was a homemaker and a former member of St. Isidore Catholic Church, Cuba where she was an usher and Eucharistic Minister. She was a member of St. Isidore's Catholic Ladies of Columbia and their Rosary Altar Society. She volunteered at the former Calvary Manor Nursing Home and donated blood for many years. Vera also belonged to the Continental American Legion Auxiliary. She loved to garden.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Kalida with Fr. Mark Hoying and  Monsignor Charles Singler officiating. Burial will follow in St. Isidore Cemetery, Cuba. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Monday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa where there will be a Scripture  Service at 2:30.
