Alvin F. Schulte
OTTAWA - Alvin F. Schulte, 90, of Ottawa died at 7:10 p.m. Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at The Meadows of Ottawa. He was born January 31, 1926 in Putnam County to the late Joseph and Catherine (Drerup) Schulte. On April 21, 1954 he married Eleanor Siefker who died July 2, 1981. On March 3, 1984 he married Maxine DeLisle who survives in Ottawa.
Also surviving are 8 children: Tim (Cindy) Schulte of Ottawa, Kathy (Doug) Diller of Perrysburg, Judy (Tom) Wischmeyer of Ottawa, Ken (Betsy) Schulte of Ottawa, Jan (Dan) Karhoff of Pandora, Keith (Kathy) Schulte of Ottawa, Dan Schulte of Ottawa, and Jeff (Pam) Schulte of Ottawa; 4 stepchildren: Sue Martinez of Ypsilanti, MI, Deb (Dan) Fahnestock of Carleton, MI, Steve (Beth) DeLisle of Waterville, and Peg (Mike) Rauscher of Mansfield; 28 grandchildren; 12 step grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and 4 more on-the-way; 1 step great-grandchild; 3 brothers: Ed (Jeanne) Schulte of Ottawa, Will (Angie) Schulte of Ottawa, and Tom (Jan) Schulte of Pandora; 3 sisters: Flossie Sehlhorst of Columbus Grove, Alice Balas of Fairview Park, and Esther (Mel) Schroeder of Ottawa; and a brother-in-law: George Seifried of Toledo. He was also preceded in death by a granddaughter: Eleanor Karhoff; a step grandson: Angel Martinez; 3 sisters: Mart Doepker, Delores Boyer, and Eleanor Seifried; 4 brothers-in-law: Don Doepker, Scott Boyer, Hank Sehlhorst and Bill Balas; and a brother and sister-in-law: Bob (Clara) Siefker.
Alvin was a devoted family man, long time farmer and business man. He owned and operated Schulte Agri Sales and a New Holland Sales. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the Ottawa Knights of Columbus and VFW. Alvin was also a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa. He served on the Pandora Medical Board, Pandora Gilboa School Board and the Putnam County Library Board.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 9, 2016 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa with Fr. Matt Jozefiak officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites by the Ottawa American Legion, VFW, and Am Vets. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Friday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa where there will be a scripture service at 7:45 p.m.
