Amy S. Walther-Murphy

WAPAKONETA – Amy S. Walther-Murphy, 60, of Wapakoneta, passed away at 5:34 a.m. on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at OSU Wexner Medical Center, Columbus, surrounded by her husband, children, and sister.  She was born October 3, 1964, in Lima to the late Donald and Dorothy (Berger) Walther.  In February 1990, she married Scott Schroeder and later divorced.  On May 22, 2021, she married Michael Murphy, he survives in Wapakoneta.

Also surviving are two children: Andrea (Dustin) Steinberger of St. Mary's, and Niklaus (Chelsie Miller) Schroeder of Dunkirk; six grandchildren: Aubrey, Ashlynn, Alainna, Violet, Oakley and Autumn; three step-children; Katy Murphy, Sara (Adam) Tobe, Emily (Jeffery) Delong; seven step-grandchildren: Kinsley, Charles, Levi, Ivy, Maggie, Austin, and Lizzy; siblings: Jerry (Deb) Walther of Holgate, Donna Marie Morris of Deshler, Pam Martin of Bluffton, Lisa (John) Gibson of Ottawa, and Scott (Connie) Walther of Tennessee.

She is preceded in death by a brother, David Walther, and a brother-in-law, Denny Morris.

Amy worked at Brehon, Wapakoneta, as HR Administration, alongside her husband Michael.  She was very passionate about her job.  Amy loved to help people with disabilities.  She was a member of Wayne Goshen Nazarene Church. Amy had a love for life and cherished her family overall, her husband, children, and grandchildren meant the world to Amy. Amy enjoyed being outside, gardening was part of her passion, she had a natural green thumb. In September 2024 Amy was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer that had spread to her brain. Amy had fought 8 long months beating any odd that was thrown at her, she had kept a positive attitude and a beautiful smile on her face throughout all her treatments. Amy's family is forever thankful for the time they have got to spend with Amy in her final months. Amy was a true fighter.

Funeral Services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic, with Pastor Pam Spencer officiating.  Burial will follow in Sugar Ridge Cemetery, Leipsic.  A visitation will he held on Wednesday from 2 to 8 p.m. and again on Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to her grandchildren's college fund.
