Andres "Andy" Rivera Cervantes

LEIPSIC - Andres "Andy" Rivera Cervantes, 71, died December 17, 2020 due to COVID-19.  He was born October 29, 1949 in San Antonio, TX to the late Joe R. and Rachel (Rivera) Cervantes.  46 years ago, he married Kathy Frey who survives in Leipsic.

Other survivors include two sons: Christopher (Mariah) Cervantes of Newnan, GA and Mark Cervantes of Leipsic; two grandchildren: Lillian and Katheryn Cervantes of San Angelo, TX; eight siblings: Linda (Tony) De La Rosa of Fostoria, JoAnn (David) Bloom of Leipsic, David Cervantes of Hamler, Cindy (Randy) Bishop of Defiance, Joe (Melaine) Cervantes, Jr. of Middletown, Tina M. (Jerry) Jackson of Woodbridge, VA, Steven (Pat) Cervantes of Glouster and Michael Cervantes of Leipsic; three aunts: Mary Orozco of San Antonio, TX. Bertha (Juan) Garcia of Dallas, TX and Susie Carreno of National City, CA; numerous nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews, and cousins; and several in-laws: J.W. (Nancy) Frey of Bowling Green, Robert (Jackie) Frey of Bluffton, Julie Powell of Sun City West, AZ, Jenny (John) McDaniel of Ottawa and Greg (Chari) Frey of Pandora.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Richard (Shirley) Cervantes; two sisters: Rachel Cervantes and Rose Marie Cervantes; two uncles: Richard (Mary Lou) Rivera and Ralph Orozco; and three brothers-in-law: George Powell, Ron (Marlene) Frey and Gary (Cathy) Frey.

Andy retired from Ennis, Inc.  He served as an airman in the United States Air Force during Vietnam.  He loved his family, his many siblings, extended family and especially playing with his granddaughters.  Andy also enjoyed golfing, fishing and bowling.

Memorial service will begin 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 17, 2021 at Leipsic Church of the Nazarene with military rites at the Leipsic Fogle Center directly following.  Friends may gather one hour prior to the service at the church.
