Angela A. Maag
OTTAWA – Angela A. Maag, 89, of Ottawa, passed away at 4:25 a.m., Monday, March 2, 2026, at The Meadows of Ottawa. She was born September 4, 1936, in Kalida to the late Hugo and Magdalena (Buss) Schroeder. On September 4, 1954, she married Adelbert H. Maag, who preceded her in death on January 23, 2012.
Survivors include 4 children: Mary Gander of Columbus Grove, James (Pamela) Maag, Jean (Kelly) Kuhlman and Mark (Shawn) Maag, all of Ottawa; 11 grandchildren: Robert (Annette) Gander, Theresa (Eric) Betts, Jeremy (Alicia) Maag, Julie (Alan) Wrasman, Joshua (Megan) Maag, Chad (Chris) Kuhlman, Cory (Ashley) Kuhlman, Courtney (Kyle) Leitenberger, Cody (Chasity) Maag, Brandi (Eric) Parys and Ashley Maag; 25 great-grandchildren; 6 siblings: Betty Schroeder of FL, Ted (Judy) Schroeder of Columbus Grove, Alex (Nancy) Schroeder of Findlay, Rita (Stan) Kuhlman, Fr. Steve Schroeder and JoAnna Rieman, all of Ottawa; in-laws: Dorothy Schroeder of Kalida, Ken Unterbrink of MI and Theresa Gable of Ottawa.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Robert Gander; 2 great-grandchildren; 5 siblings: John Schroeder, George (Marciel) Schroeder, Frank Schroeder, Eleanor (Ellie) Unterbrink and Verenna Mullett.
Angela retired from the former L & K Restaurant, Ottawa. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf, Catholic Ladies of Columbia #179, Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Ottawa 1343 and Ottawa Eagles Auxiliary 2234, where she held officer positions at local, district and zone. Angela loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Family meant everything to her.
The family would like to thank The Meadows of Ottawa for the last seven years of her care as well as Putnam County Hospice for their excellent care for mom.
Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 6, 2026, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf with Fr. Matt Keller officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. on Thursday and 9 to 10 a.m. on Friday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa. A scripture service will be held at 1:45 p.m. and rosary service at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to Putnam County Hospice or a charity of the donor’s choice.
