HAMLER - Heaven opened its gates when Angelita "Angie" Alvarado, 98 of Hamler passed away on March 23, 2022 at St. Vincent's Hospital in Toledo, Ohio. She was born on May 31, 1923 in Waelder, TX to the late Donaciano and Delores (Melchor) Carrizales. On September 28, 1946, she married the love of her life, Felipe Alvarado, Sr., who survives in Hamler. They have been married for 75 year and were an exceptionally strong example of what true love is and should be.
Other survivors include two daughters: Maria Amador and Lydia (Dan) Benavides; a daughter-in-law, Ellie Alvarado; 10 grandchildren: Brenda (Caleb) Arce; Rene (Shannon) Amador, Jr.; Jerry (Diane) Alvarado; Jason (Rachel) Amador; Aaron Alvarado, Sr.; Amanda (Josh) Sprow; Marina Pena; Brittani Benavides; Brandi Benavides; and Jericha (Mark Morrison) Benavides; 23 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great grandchildren. Surviving are two sisters: Delfina Rodriguez and Helen Rodriguez.
She was preceded in death, Felipe Alvarado, Jr; a grandson, Jeremy Jesus Nieto; three brothers: Manuel Carrizales, Mack Carrizales, and Isabel Carrizales; and a sister, Petra Salaz.
Angelita retired from Tem-Cole Radish Factory in McClure, Ohio. She was a woman of strong faith and attended Harvest Fellowship Church in Hamler, and was a former member of St. Paul's Catholic Parish of Hamler, and The Holgate Guadalupe Society. She enjoyed babysitting, crocheting, embroidery, praying the rosary, watching her telenovelas, and putting on her makeup. Angelita loved flowers and spending time with her grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at Harvest Fellowship Church in Hamler with Pastor James Erven officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Deshler. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 PM Monday at Love-Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Leipsic and one hour prior to the funeral on Tuesday at the church. A rosary service will begin at 7:45 PM Monday at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be given to Mercy Health Life flight or Hamler EMS.
