Anna Kahle Wehri, 98, died August 14, 2012. She was born May 21, 1914, to Ignatius and Katherine (Duling) Kahle in Cuba, Ohio. On October 15, 1941, she married Alphonse Joseph Wehri who died August 21, 1982.
Anna was a homemaker and mother to twelve children. She was a full working partner along with her husband on the family farm. Together, they built up the farm and through hard work and saving were able to give all their children a college education. Her hobbies included sewing and the needle arts, gardening, singing and playing the piano and electric organ. Later in life she enjoyed reading history and newspapers and loved the ensuing discussions. In her later years after she developed macular degeneration, she continued studying history with books on tape. Academically, she graduated first in her eighth grade class of four one-room schools and still remembered her baccalaureate address. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and its Catholic Ladies of Columbia and Altar Rosary Societies.
Anna is survived by her children including Elaine (Daniel Daly), Marilyn, Dorothy (Kenneth Lammers), Elizabeth, Carol (Jerry MacDonald), Carl (Marlene Schroeder), Norman (Cathy Sagester), Joan (Daniel Vennekotter), Karen (Steven Meyer), Anita (David Delger), Linda (Paul Felcyn), and Timothy. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and her sister-in-law, Thecla Wehri Miller and brother-in-law, Alfred Miller.
She was preceded in death by her four brothers, Amos, Henry, Herbert and Lawrence; three sisters, Frances Borgelt, Clara Liebrecht and Marcella Miller; six brothers-in-law, Edward Borgelt, Sylvester Liebrecht, Norbert Wehri, Joseph Langhals, Alphonse Miller, Virgil Horstman and Eugene Horstman; and five sisters-in-law, Martha Krienbrink Kahle, Irene Langhals Kahle, Magdalen Wehri Langhals, ImaJean Hamilton Wehri, Clara Wehri Horstman and Anna Wehri Horstman.
The funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Michael's Catholic Church on Friday, August 17, 2012 at 10:30 A.M. Burial will be at St. Michael's Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 P.M. on Thursday, August 16, 2012 at Love-Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Jackson Township, at the corner of US 224 and SR 634 where a scripture service will be held in the afternoon and a CLC and Altar Rosary service will be held at 7 P.M.
