Annabelle (Varner) Deatrick

DEFIANCE – Annabelle (Varner) Deatrick, 89, of Defiance, formerly of Oakwood, passed away at 7:03 p.m. on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at Defiance Inpatient Hospice.  She was born July 28, 1933, in Pittsford, MI., to the late Robert and Cora (Bidlack) Varner.

Annabelle is survived by four children: Denita Fulmer, Doug (Sherri) Fulmer, both of Defiance, Dennis (Michelle) Starry of Oakwood, and Dianna (Garth) Willett of Defiance; 12 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; a sister: Betty (Phil) Hannenkratt of Paulding; a brother-in-law: Oren Wagner of Wabash, IN.; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by a sister, Ilah Wagner.

Annabelle was a 1952 graduate of Oakwood School.  She attended Lima Beauty School and worked as a beautician in Oakwood.  She had also worked at Industrial Salvage,  Buckeye Custom Pallets and Pontiac Logistics and eventually retired from DASH.   Annabelle loved NASCAR, golf, Price is Right and Wheel of Fortune.  She was always known as Granny.

Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Oakwood with Pastor Stan Harmon officiating.  Burial will follow in Prairie Chapel Cemetery, Oakwood.  A visitation will be held on Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and again Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
