OTTAWA - Anne L. McCracken, 99, passed away at Blanchard Valley Hospital in Findlay, OH Friday, May 24, 2024.  She was born September 13, 1924, in Richardsville, PA, the daughter of William & Lucille (Cyphert) Doutt.

She married John P. McCracken in November 1942 and by 1944 was a 20-yr. old stenographer at Westinghouse in Washington, DC, while John served in the US Navy.  At war's end, she and fellow co-workers were recognized for their work which had contributed to the highly top-secret Manhattan Project.

Having graduated high school at age 15, Anne continued to display many talents throughout her life – housewife; mother of 4; house "architect", builder, renovator, accomplished seamstress who retailored a donated suit for a young man's Sr. prom & future wedding, fashioned many brides' and bridesmaids' gowns and prom dresses (including two daughters'); professionally upholstered, custom slipcovered, and draped many local home interiors; and retired as an administrative assistant and lab technician after 25 years of service at Sylvania/North American Phillips.

Anne was preceded in death by her 17-yr. old son, Patrick Alan; her 18-mo. old great granddaughter, Brenna Lace Strohm; and her spouse of 67 years, John P. McCracken.

Surviving children are Linda L. West (Fredericksburg, VA); Michael J. McCracken (Ottawa, OH); Jo Ann Deskins & spouse Brent (Ottawa, OH). Grandchildren are Ann R. Strohm (Alexandria, VA); Nathan A. Strohm & spouse Laina (Fayetteville, NC); Erin N. Schroeder & spouse Jared (Glandorf, OH); Lyssa B. Vorst & spouse Kyle (Kalida, OH); Luke McCracken & sister Leah. In addition, Anne was blessed with 8 surviving great grandchildren.

The family will greet friends and family Friday, May 31, 2024, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Ottawa, OH from 10-11 AM, followed by a memorial service at 11 AM.
