Anne Heitmeyer
COLUMBUS GROVE – Anne Heitmeyer, 85, of Columbus Grove passed away 5:17 p.m., Saturday, January 10, 2026, at The Meadows of Kalida surrounded by her loving family. She was born January 21, 1940, in Lima to the late Lee and Mary Margaret (Wellman) Hixenbaugh. On May 5, 1962, she married Eugene “Gene” Heitmeyer, and he survives in Columbus Grove.
Other survivors include four children: Kathy (Ken) Rieman of Columbus Grove, Jeff (Dena) Heitmeyer of Ottawa, Julie (Pat) Vorst of Columbus Grove and David (Rita) Heitmeyer of Leipsic; twelve grandchildren: Nate Rieman, Logan Rieman, Derek Rieman, Emily Ankrom, Macy Siemer, Sydney Schetter, Mackenzie Parcher, Aaron Vorst, Bryce Heitmeyer, Brooke Heitmeyer, Hayley Sager and Peyton Heitmeyer; thirteen great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Ellen Smith of Columbus Grove.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, John “Jack” Hixenbaugh; and a sister, Miriam “Sue” Hixenbaugh.
Anne was a 1958 graduate of LCC and a 1961 graduate of St. Rita’s Nursing School obtaining her RN. Anne then worked in the nursery at St. Rita’s for four years before spending 25 years with Putnam Acres Care Center in Ottawa before retirement. She could always be seen at her children’s, grandchildren’s and even great-grandchildren’s school and sporting events from preschool through college. Anne was a lifelong member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Columbus Grove.
The family would like to thank Putnam County Hospice, Fr, David Ritchie and the Meadows of Kalida for their wonderful care and compassion.
Funeral mass will begin at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 17, 2026, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Columbus Grove with Fr. David Richie officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Friday and 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Twp.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s, Putnam County Hospice or St. Anthony of Padua Church.
