Obituary

Anne Yore O’Dell

KALIDA – Anne Yore O’Dell, age 92, of Kalida, Ohio passed away peacefully at 6:33 p.m. on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at The Meadows of Kalida. Anne was born on March 31, 1934, in Oak Park, Illinois to the late Jerry and Elizabeth Yore.

From an early age, Anne felt called to a life of service. In 1952, she entered the religious life and became a member of the Sisters of Divine Providence, serving as a nun for several years in Melbourne, Kentucky. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from DePaul University in Chicago, and devoted much of her life to teaching elementary school students. Her teaching career included time in Kentucky and the Army Base in Germany, where she shared her love of learning and her compassionate spirit with generations of children.

Later in life, Anne married the love of her life, Aloysius O’Dell. Together they built a life grounded in faith, family and adventure.

Anne’s greatest joys were her Catholic faith, and the many friendships she cultivated throughout her life. She enjoyed horseback riding, traveling, and exploring new places. She was active in Girl Scouts and embraced life’s adventures with curiosity and enthusiasm. Anne brought warmth, kindness, and a gentle sense of humor wherever she went.

Anne is survived by her husband, Aloysius O’Dell.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her siblings: Martha, Louis, and Tony.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at The Meadows of Kalida and Putnam County Homecare and Hospice for their compassionate care and support.

Anne’s life was one of faith, service, education, and love. She touched countless lives as a teacher, mentor, friend and wife. Her legacy of kindness, devotion, and adventure will continue to live on in all who knew and loved her.

Arrangements are pending and under the direction of LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa.
