Arleen Rose Peters

OTTOVILLE – Arleen Rose Peters, 96, of Ottoville, passed away at 10:13 p.m., Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at Mercy Health St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima. She was born May 15, 1930, in Fort Jennings to the late Edmund and Anna M. (Lucke) Rekart. On August 19, 1950, she married Arnold Peters. She was preceded in death by a son, Thomas “Tom” Peters on August 2, 1966, and her husband, Arnold Peters on October 21, 2009.

Survivors include five children: Linda Shaffer of Englewood, FL, Steve Peters of Ottoville, Terry (Renee) Peters of Toledo, Beth (Shane Saukko) Peters of Fort Pierce, FL and Barb Peters of Wapakoneta; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three sisters: Catherine Miller of Delphos, Vivian Hines of Elida and Carol Michel of Toledo.

In addition to her parents, husband and son, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Kenny Rekart; a sister, Ruth (Urban) Osting; and two brothers-in-law: Bernard Hines and Herbert Miller.

Arleen was an amazing mother. Back in the day, she was a cheerleader at Fort Jennings High School, along with her lifelong friend, Leafy Eickholt. Arleen volunteered at The Meadows of Kalida, was a homemaker, and helped with farming. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville, where she often helped clean the church and worked at the church social. Arleen was also a member of the Altar Rosary Society. She will be missed by all that knew and loved her.

Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 12, 2026, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville with Very Reverend George Mahas officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ottoville. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday and 8:45 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on Saturday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Township.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ottoville.
