Obituary

Arthur H. Hulett

DEFIANCE - On September 7, 2024 Arthur Henry Hulett of Defiance, Ohio arrived in heaven to be reunited with open arms by his beautiful mother Edna Pearl (Runk) Hulett and his father John Henry "Blue John" Hulett. A long awaited homecoming.

Arthur was born April 26, 1941 in Olive Hill, Kentucky. He attended high school at Olive Hill High and then graduated from the Armed Forces Institute in Madison, Wisconsin. On January 19, 1960 he enlisted into the U.S. Marine Corps. Arthur was an expert rifleman, pistol sharpshooter and scout sniper. He taught a platoon of scout snipers before he was sent to Vietnam where he fought proudly, bravely and gallantly for his country. Arthur was Staff Sergeant when he was discharged on August 31, 1967.

Arthur married his wife, Sherrin Combs on October 30, 1964 in Jacksonville, North Carolina. Settling into married life he was employed by General Motors of Defiance and retired after 38 ½ years. During this time, he earned a Master's Degree in Pastoral Counseling and a Ph.D. in Clinical Pastoral Counseling. Arthur loved to serve the Lord in the same manner that he served his country. He was a former member of the Masonic Lodge and Defiance V.F.W.

Although Arthur had no children of his own, he helped care for and raise his niece Edna Jane, whom he grew to love and treat as his own daughter. Arthur also cared for several foster children throughout the years.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Sherrin. Also surviving is a daughter, Edna Jane O'Dell; grandchildren: Caleb (Mary) Tenwalde, Yu-Chi (Loren) Peterson, En (Alex) Huntington, Mei Tenwalde and Sho-Fong Tenwalde; great-grandchildren: Tierney, Titus and Thaine Tenwalde and Henry and Lilah Huntington; a sister, Judy (Homer) Gilbert; and two sisters-in-law: Sara Hulett and Shirley Hulett.

Preceding him in death is his brother, Jack Hulett, a sister, Dora (Elwood) Gilbert and a brother, Cecil Hulett.

Arthur also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who loved and adored him. He was not only an amazing man but an amazing human being who never quit learning and serving his fellow men. He had a huge heart and always tried to be there for his family giving advice, care and love.

With these last few words of goodbye for now, we as your beloved nieces and nephews give to you a final salute Uncle Art. Until we meet again, Oorah and God Bless.
