Arthur J. Ricker

CLOVERDALE - Arthur J. Ricker, 91 of Cloverdale died 3:20 p.m. Saturday, January 29, 2022 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.  He was born February 25, 1930 in Fort Jennings to the late Sigmund and Clara (Meier) Ricker.  On July 10, 1970, he married Diane Landin and she survives in Cloverdale.

Other survivors include five children: Terry (Jan) Warnecke of Cloverdale, Jody (Paul) Hoersten of Ottoville, Donna (Todd) Hunt of Columbus Grove, Renee Schulte of Cloverdale and Christine (Bill) Hunter of Convoy; fourteen grandchildren: Todd (Melanie) Warnecke, Jenna (Tyler) Hoffman, Troy Warnecke, Lauren (Logan) Klima, Kelsey (Brad) Eickholt, Makayla (Keith) Kleman, Paige Hoersten, Nichole (Robert) Moye, Derek (Kate) Ricker, Tim Hunt, Tessa (John) Schlosser, Garrett Schulte, Logan Schulte and Carson Hunter; ten great-grandchildren and two on the way; two brothers: Richard (Norene) Ricker of Fort Jennings and Arnold (Carolyn) Ricker of Continental; a sister, Mary Knueve of Kalida; three sisters-in-law: Carol Ricker of Fort Jennings, Geraldine Ricker of Elida and Dorothy Ricker of Spencerville.

He was also preceded in death by a sister, Betty (Urban) Schnipke; three brothers: Eugene, Charles and Sigmund Ricker; sister-in-law, Doris Ricker; and a brother-in-law, Frank Knueve.

Art was a lifelong farmer and truck driver.  He had worked for JL Wannemacher and VP Building.  He was a US Army Veteran and a member of the Fort Jennings American Legion.  He was also a member Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville and former board of directors for German Mutual Insurance Company, Ottoville.  Art assisted his ornery nephews at Knueve and Son Plumbing and Heating.  His favorite song was "On Top of Old Smokey".  A special thanks to Art's niece, Connie Schnipke, for endless conversations and long car rides.

Funeral mass will begin 10:30 a.m., Wednesday February 2, 2022 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville with Fr. Jerome Schetter.  Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Ottoville with military honors by Fort Jennings American Legion and Ottoville VFW.  Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Twp. with a scripture service at 1:45 p.m.

Memorial donations may be given to Putnam County Home Health and Hospice.
