Arthur C. Wurst
Ottoville - Arthur C. Wurst, 83, of Ottoville passed away peacefully at 8:55 p.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2016 after battling cancer for 23 years at Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center surrounded by his entire family. He was born January 3, 1933 in Ottoville to the late Frank H. and Hilda (Scharf) Wurst. On February 1, 1955, he married Patricia Weber. On September 14, 2007 he married Brenda Schmiedel, who survives in Van Wert.
Art is also survived by four children: Dan (Anne) Wurst of Ottoville; Brenda (Dean) VonDeylen of Oakwood; Jan (Scott) Williams of Van Wert and Becky (Mike) Landin of Ottoville; three step-children: Tracey (William) Allenbaugh of Ohio City; Michael (Christina) Eversole of Van Wert and Scott (Renae) Eversole of Delphos; 11 grandchildren; 14step-grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and 8 step-great-grandchild; and 4 brothers: Richard Wurst and Leo (Phyllis) Wurst both of Ottoville, Larry (Gloria) Wurst of Dayton, and Rodney (Lois) Wurst of Morcormic, South Carolina.
Art retired in 1989 from Chrysler Amplex and ICM in 1995 both located in Van Wert. He was a U.S. Army veteran of Korea. Art was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville, the Ottoville VFW, Ft. Jennings American Legion, and the Delphos Eagles. He was also a member of Van Wert UAW local 1331 and the Van Wert Moose.
He enjoyed playing cards, walking, auctions and boating. His favorite pastime was spending time with his family. They were his greatest love. The last few years he spent making memories with them. He took them to places like Alaska, Hawaii and on a Caribbean Cruise.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 11, 2016 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville with the Very Reverend Jerome Schetter officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Ottoville with military rites by the Ottoville VFW and Ft. Jennings American Legion. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Sunday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Township where there will be a scripture service at 1:45 p.m.
Memorial can be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Van Wert Inpatient Hospice.
