August "Augie" Trenkamp
FT. JENNINGS – August "Augie" Trenkamp, 83, of Ft. Jennings died at 3:50 p.m. Wednesday, January 17, 2012 at the Ohio State University Hospital, Columbus. He was born April 8, 1928 in Ottoville to the late August and Anna (Ruen) Trenkamp. On February 3, 1951 he married Jacqueline Calvelage and she survives in Ft. Jennings.
Also surviving are 4 children: Deborah (Jeff) Rostorfer of Elida, Carl (Chris) Trenkamp of Ft. Jennings, Linda (Randy) Brinkman of Delphos, and Lisa (Chip) Buss of Kalida; 10 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law: Margie (Vern) Hermiller of Bluffton.
He was also preceded in death by 7 brothers: Ambrose, Walter, Henry, Arnold, Joseph, John and James Trenkamp; and 5 sisters: Frances Landwehr, Sister Alma Trenkamp, Edna Droesche, Irene Dugan and Sally Fisher.
Augie retired from Ford Motor Company after 33 years and was a farmer. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ft. Jennings. He was a graduate of Ottoville High School and in 1946 was named as a 1st Team All State Basketball Player. He was a social member of Ottoville VFW and Delphos Eagles. He enjoyed farming and playing cards. He was an avid Cincinnati Reds fan and loved talking about sports. He loved watching his grandchildren play sports.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 21, 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ft. Jennings with Fr. Joseph Przybysz officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Friday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Township where there will be a scripture service at 3 p.m. and from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Saturday.
