Obituary

Barbara L. (Streicher) Bidlack

CONTINENTAL – Barbara L. (Streicher) Bidlack, age 92, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2026. She was born on March 26, 1933, in Continental, Ohio, to Otis and Florence (Dellinger) Brower.

Barbara was a lifelong resident of Continental and was deeply rooted in the community she loved. She graduated from Continental High School in 1951, earned her undergraduate degree from Defiance College, and later completed her master’s degree at Bowling Green State University. She married Richard Bidlack in 1989, and together they shared many cherished years.

She was preceded in death by her children, Timothy Streicher and Cheri Streicher whom she loved and missed dearly. Also, her beloved sister, Charlotte (Harter) Simonis. Known affectionately around town as the “Brower Girls,” Barbara and Charlotte were well known and warmly regarded by all who knew them.

Barbara is survived by her daughter-in-law, Cindy Streicher; her grandchildren, Jordan (Jill) Streicher, Emily (Will) Henry, and Allison (Nathan) Schmidt; and her great-grandchildren, Haden, Norah, and Abram Streicher, and Lydia, Layne, and Londyn Schmidt. She is also survived by Richard’s family: Annette (Todd) Burkholder, Eric (April) Bidlack, and Marie Bidlack, along with their grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Barb was a dedicated school teacher for 30 years and took great pride in her profession. She lovingly referred to her 3rd grade students as “her kids,” a reflection of the care and commitment she brought to generations of children.

She was a faithful member of Christ Lutheran Church and was actively involved in the Continental Child Conservation League and the Continental Eastern Stars. Barbara enjoyed bowling with her dear friend Rose Marie Stanton and the other league ladies. Later in life, she especially treasured her Friday coffee dates with her friends.

Funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 16, 2026 and Christ Lutheran Church, Continental. Visitation will be held from for one hour prior to the service also at the church.

Memorial donations may be made in Barbara’s memory to the Continental Blue and Gold Club or Putnam County Hospice.

Arrangements are under the direction of HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Continental.
