Barbara J. Steffan

LEIPSIC – Barbara J. Steffan, 85, of Leipsic, died 3:40 a.m., Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at The Meadows of Leipsic.  She was born September 22, 1936 in Antwerp to the late Raymond and Ada (Morehead) Sudlow.  On October 25, 1952, she married Paul Steffan. He preceded her in death on February 22, 2010.

Survivors include 6 children: Debra (Duane) Morris of Pandora, Paula (Joe) Weis of New Cleveland, Nancy (Dale Hites) Warnecke of Leipsic, Laura (Jim) Cutlip of Ottawa, Joe (Leslee) Steffan of Leipsic and Connie (Rob) Cox of Ottawa; 19 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren and two on the way; 11 step-great-grandchildren; 1 step-great-great-grandchild; daughter-in-law: Kathy Steffan of Leipsic; and a sister-in-law: Mary Sudlow of Findlay.

She was also preceded in death by a son: George Steffan; 7 brothers: Don, George, Charles, Bill, Floyd, Otha and Kenneth Sudlow; and 3 sisters: Elinore Stetler, Betty Harbiston and Mary Cramer.

Barbara retired from Cherry's in Ottawa. She formerly worked at the cafeteria at Libby's as well.  She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Leipsic and its Rosary Altar Society. Barbara enjoyed gardening and puzzles.

Funeral Mass will begin 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Leipsic with Father Steve Schroeder officiating.  Burial will follow at the church cemetery.  Visitation will be 2 - 8 p.m., Monday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic with a rosary service at 7:30 p.m. and again on Tuesday one hour prior to mass at St. Mary's Parish Life Center, Leipsic.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
