BEN H. ELLERBROCK
OTTAWA - Ben H. Ellerbrock, 91, of Ottawa, died 1:55 p.m., Sunday, March 1, 2015 at The Meadows of Ottawa. He was born July 15, 1923 in New Cleveland to the late Clarence and Catherine (Heinze) Ellerbrock. On May 29, 1948, he married Mildred Wurth and she survives in Ottawa.
Also surviving are 8 children: Gary Ellerbrock of Findlay, Theresa Ellerbrock of NY, NY, Rose (Tim) Krouse of Sugar Grove, Randy Ellerbrock of Ottawa, Joan (Greg) Sidle of Spotsylvania, VA, Mark (Marti) Ellerbrock of Ottawa, Lisa (Clark) Nash of Ottawa, and Laura (John) Sdao of Fredericksburg, VA; 21 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a sister: Marietta (Burl) Moris of Delphos; a sister-in-law: Delores Ellerbrock of Toledo and his beloved dog, Jack.
He was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law: Elaine Ellerbrock; 2 brothers: Raymond and Leonard (Eileen) Ellerbrock; and 2 sisters: Rosella (Robert) Moser and Florence (William) Semenovich.
Ben worked as a self-employed carpenter until 1961. He was a life member of Ottawa Knights of Columbus, a member of the Carpenter's union, a US Army WWII Veteran, member of the Ottawa VFW and American Legion and Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa. Ben enjoyed collecting and selling antiques, loved music, especially Bing Crosby and always sang to the children in his life. He also enjoyed art and traveling.
A Mass of Christian burial will begin 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 6, 2015 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa with Fr. Matt Jozefiak officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites by the Ottawa VFW, American Legion and Amvets. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m., Thursday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa with a VFW service at 7:00 p.m. and scripture service at 7:50 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Putnam County Hospice.
