Bernard L. Berg

LEIPSIC – Bernard L. Berg, 88, of Leipsic, passed away at 7:51 a.m. on Monday, February 19, 2024, at Mercy Health Putnam Medical Center, Glandorf.  He was born August 8, 1935, in Leipsic, to the late Peter and Nora Ann (Wilson) Berg.  On October 22, 1955, he married Rita M. Busick, she survives in Leipsic.

Bernard is also survived by two children:  Richard (Mary Ann) Berg of Deshler, and David (Jane) Berg of Lima; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a brother: Richard (Kim) Berg of Leipsic.

He is preceded in death by a daughter, Tamara; a son, Douglas; a brother, William Berg; and a sister, Mary (Robert) Courtney.

Bernard retired from Tuttle Construction, Lima after 30 plus years of service.  He had previously worked at Allied-Egri, Leipsic.  He was a member of the Labor Union 574, Marion and the Leipsic United Methodist Church, Leipsic.   Bernard was the local historian for the Village of Leipsic and had quite a collection of local memorabilia.  He enjoyed tinkering in his workshop, going to flea markets and eating at all his favorite restaurants.  Bernard was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes, and Cleveland Indians fan.

Funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic with Pastor Ruth Carter-Crist officiating.  Burial will follow in Sugar Ridge Cemetery, Leipsic.  A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2 to 8 p.m. and again on Thursday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
