Bernard M. Gerdeman
OTTOVILLE – Bernard M. Gerdeman, 90, of Ottoville, passed away at 3:07 a.m. on Tuesday, March 08, 2022 at Mercy Health St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima. He was born November 12, 1931 in Delphos to the late Theodore and Margaret (Korb) Gerdeman. On April 18, 1959, he married Marie M. Gasser, she preceded him in death on November 6, 2021.
Bernard is survived by four sons: Dan Gerdeman of Ottoville, Jim (Penney) Gerdeman of Ft. Jennings, Gary (Sue) Gerdeman of Delphos, and Keith Gerdeman of Ottoville; four grandchildren: Derek (Alison) Gerdeman, Lance (Kathryn) Gerdeman, Matt (Katlynn Schleeter) Gerdeman, and Monica (Joel) Bruskotter; two great-grandchildren: Bishop and Alia Bruskotter; two sisters: Dorothy (Elton) Lamy of Cincinnati, Joan (Robert) Ricker of Delphos; and a sister-in-law: Marty Gerdeman of Ottoville.
He is also preceded in death by six sisters, Roseann (Harold) Friedrich, Lenore Gerdeman, Alice (Louis) Quinter, Marie (William) Swick, Jane (William) Fairfax, Mary Ellen Gerdeman; and a brother, Eugene Gerdeman.
Bernard was a 1949 graduate of Delphos St. John's High School. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran, serving during the Korean War. Bernard retired from General Motors, Defiance. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville. Bernard enjoyed watching the Cincinnati Reds and Bengals. Doing puzzles was his favorite pastime.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 14, 2022 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville with Father Jerome Schetter officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. A visitation will be held on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. with a scripture service at 1:30 p.m. and again on Monday from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Township.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Mary's Cemetery or Immaculate Conception Rectory Fund.
