Bernice Mae Rayle

LEIPSIC - Bernice Mae Rayle, 96, of Leipsic, died at 5:12 p.m. Sunday, October 31, 2021 at the Meadows of Leipsic. She was born April 9, 1925 in Leipsic to the late Clyde and Florence  (Kratzer) Ward.  On August 26, 1944, she married Forrest Rayle, Sr. He preceded her in death on July 21, 2012.

Survivors include two children: Forrest (Kathy) Rayle, Jr. of Findlay and Janet (David) Spurgeon of Ottawa; ten grandchildren: Brian Rayle, Amanda (Chris) King, Coatney (Starr) Shelton, Jeff (Danielle) Oliver, Brian "Whitey" Langhals, Kevin (Mindy) Losh, Kelly (Josh) Guest, Cara Sargent, Melanie Halker and David (Tylee) Spurgeon III; 25 great-grandchildren; one son-in-law: Terry Oliver of Florida; a brother: Dale (Delethia) Ward of Findlay; and two sisters: Darlene Deffenbaugh of Columbus Grove and Ruth Ann Watkins of Ft. Wayne, IN; a sister-in-law: Julie Ward of Leipsic.

She was preceded in death by a daughter: Susan Oliver; two granddaughters: Jennifer Langhals and Angela Rayle; a son-in-law: James Losh; a brother: Paul Ward; and a brother-in-law: Milt Deffenbaugh

Bernice was formerly a bookkeeper for Rayle Brothers' Ford Tractor. She was a member of First Lutheran Church, Leipsic, where she was very active in church organizations.

A funeral service will begin 10:00 a.m. Thursday, November 4, 2021 at First Lutheran Church, Leipsic with Rev. Julie Parsell officiating.  Burial will follow at Sugar Ridge Cemetery, Leipsic.  Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at Love-Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Leipsic as well as 9:30 a.m. until the time of service Thursday at the church.

Memorial donations may be given to First Lutheran Church, Leipsic or Putnam County Hospice.
