Betty L. Griffith

LEIPSIC – Betty L. Griffith, 88 of Leipsic, passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2024, at Mercy Health St. Vincent Medical Center, Toledo.  She was born November 25, 1935, in Belmore to the late Fred and Doris (Newell) Beam.  On August 15, 1954, she married William E. Griffith, he preceded her in death on May 26, 2018.

Betty is survived by five children:  Sharon (Richard) Swihart of Ft. Wayne, IN., Fred (Sue) Griffith of Port Orange, FL., Phil (Marlene) Griffith of Ottawa, Dan (Penny) of Drums, PA., and Nadine (Shane) McMackin of Kingsport, TN.; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren, with one on the way; and two sisters-in-law:  Joyce Beam of Wapakoneta, and Nancy Beam of Avon Lake.

She is preceded in death by one great-grandchild, Sophia Steffel; and two brothers, Virgil and Arthur Beam.

Betty retired from teaching at Leipsic Elementary School.  She was very active at the Meadows of Leipsic. Betty was a member of Leipsic Methodist Church, where she was also very active.  She enjoyed gardening, raising flowers, doing puzzles and feeding the birds.  Betty loved to travel and visit her family.

Funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic with Pastor Laurie Beaty officiating.  Burial will be held at a later date at West Belmore Cemetery.  A visitation will be held on Thursday from 11 to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
