Betty M. "Liz" Shade

HAMLER – Betty M. "Liz" Shade, 84, of Hamler, passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at her residence.  She was born June 22, 1939, in Leipsic to the late Claude and Charlotte (Ricker) Alt.  On July 15, 1988, she married Robert E. Shade, who preceded her in death on October 21, 2017.

Survivors include five children: Lisa Boes of Loveland, CO, Ron (Sharon) Peckinpaugh of Pemberville, Rhonda (Todd) Rosebrock of Milton, FL, E.Jay (Becky) Peckinpaugh of Napoleon and Sondra Garbers of Wauseon; two stepsons: Woodie Shade and Kirk (Eileen) Shade, both of Toledo; sixteen grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Deana Shade; three siblings: Edwin (Leona) Alt, Melvin (Vera) Alt and Rosemary (Charles) Schortgen; and her beloved dogs: Mytzee and Stormy.

Betty retired from Filling Home, Napoleon, where she was a dietary aide. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, sewing, bird watching, collecting owls and watching game shows. Betty loved having lunch with neighbors and spending time with her family.

A funeral service for Betty will begin at 5:00 p.m., Sunday, January 28, 2024 at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic with Fr. Nick Cunningham officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Marion Township Cemetery, Hamler.  Visitation will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
