Billy Ray Ranes

LEIPSIC – Billy R. Ranes, 75, of Leipsic, died at 2:07 a.m. on April 7, 2021 at his residence.  He was born November 24, 1945 in Belmore to the late John and Hazel (Van Horn) Ranes Jr.  On December 14, 1973, he married Donna Miller, she survives in Leipsic.

Billy is also survived by four children: Sarah (Nick) Dandy of Australia, Tammy Johnston of Atlanta, GA., Kurt (Melissa) Ranes of Pennsylvania, and Christa Ranes of Leipsic; seven grandchildren; and ten siblings.

He is preceded in death by two siblings.

Billy was the caretaker at Van Buren Township Cemeteries for over 40 years. He was a veteran serving in the Marines during Vietnam.   Billy was a member and Past Commander of the Leipsic VFW Post #9547.  He was also a member of the Leipsic American Legion Post #287 and the Leipsic Eagles.  He loved to travel with Donna and spend time with his grandchildren.  Billy also enjoyed going to Marine Reunions.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic.  Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Leipsic with military rites by the Leipsic VFW. In keeping with the social distancing guidelines, a visitation will be held on Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and again on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.  Masks will be required upon entering the funeral home.
