Brett M. Varner
OTTAWA - Brett M. Varner, 34, of Ottawa died Saturday, March 28, 2015 from an automobile accident on St. Rt. 634. He was born March 16, 1981 in Rock Springs, WY to Ronald W. and Natalie (Dimock) Varner. His mother, Natalie Merriman and step-father, Dennis Merriman survive in Defiance. His father is deceased.
Brett is also survived by 2 brothers: Ben (Lacey) Varner of Piqua and Mark Weidenhamer of Paulding; 3 step brothers: Dennis (Andrea) Merriman of Van Wert, David (Brandy Perona) Merriman of IL and Marty Kessler of Paulding; 2 step sisters: Melissa Winebrenner of Payne and Melinda (Adrian) Glaysh of CA; paternal grandmother: Linda Varner of Defiance; maternal grandfather: Darold "Butch" Dimock (Pat Shannon) of Defiance; and maternal grandmother: LaDonna (Paul) Wilcox of Dayton; 3 nephews: Hayden Varner of Piqua, Gavin Shaffer and Bentley Merriman both of Van Wert; and his girlfriend: Abigail Stringfield of Columbus Grove.
He is preceded also in death by a daughter, Angel Varner and paternal grandfather, Fred Varner.
Brett was a member of Twin Oaks United Methodist Church in Oakwood. He worked at Kalida Manufacturing Inc. He was a Marine Corps veteran.
A Funeral Service will begin 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 2, 2015 at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Oakwood with Pastor Dave Dooley officiating. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to service on Thursday at the funeral home.
