BRUCE B. BOHRER
OTTAWA - Bruce Brickner Bohrer, age 63, died peacefully in his home in the presence of family, on November 14, 2014, in Ottawa, OH, following a long battle with cancer.
He is survived by his wife Marilyn (Schnipke), his sons Jesse James (Rachel Landwehr) and Justin Cody (Lindsey Hansen), daughter Chelsea Susanne (Rudy Beining), granddaughters Elizabeth Margaret, Lillian Healani, and Ella Marie, grandson Braxson Bruce, his mother Doris, brother Kevin, and faithful dog Star. He is preceded in death by his son Patrick "Boone", his brothers Brian Bohrer and Ray Bohrer, and father Raymond Bohrer.
Bruce was born on November 8, 1951, in Tiffin, OH, to parents Raymond and Doris Bohrer. He was an Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America and was presented with the prestigious God and Country award, recognizing his service to the community. He graduated from Bluffton College in 1973 with a degree of Bachelor of Arts in English and a minor in Speech and Drama. In 1983 he graduated from Ohio Northern University with a Juris Doctorate degree. He was dedicated to a life of public service in various roles starting with his position as Assistant Prosecutor in Putnam County, and then continuing with his role as Assistant Attorney General in St Thomas, USVI. He played an important role in the war against drugs through his contributions to the Multi Area Narcotics Task Force over a ten-year period.
Bruce was a great family man who expressed his love unconditionally and was always forgiving and understanding. He married Marilyn in 1974 and the couple had four children together, including Patrick "Boone" Bohrer, who died in infancy.
He enjoyed golfing, fishing, the beach, boating, and spending time with his grandchildren. His friends and family will always remember him for his fortitude and good humor.
Funeral service will begin at 2:00p.m. Monday, November 17, 2014 at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa with Fr. Gene and Fr. Ken Schnipke officiating. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m., Sunday and one hour prior to the service Monday. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Bruce's life. The family would like to thank the James Cancer Center, Lima Cancer and Blood Center, and Community Health Professionals for their services.
