Bruce Meyer
LEIPSIC – Bruce Meyer, 68, of Leipsic, passed away peacefully at 1:51 p.m., Thursday, October 22, 2026, at ProMedica Toledo Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 29, 1958, in Lima to the late James and Rita Jane (Kaufman) Meyer. On July 11, 1987, he married the love of his life, Michelle (Schortgen) Meyer, who survives in Leipsic.
Other survivors include his two beloved children: Austin James Meyer of Leipsic and Quinne Alyse Meyer of Sylvania; seven siblings: Michele (Richard) Cook and Cheri (Bill) Booth, both of Deshler, Sandi Meyer of Norman, OK, Kevin Meyer and Roger (Shelly) Meyer, both of Leipsic, Jan (Jodi) Meyer and Tammie (Terry) Morman, both of Bowling Green; and many adored nieces and nephews.
Bruce was an incredible husband to his wife, Michelle, and a superhero father to his children, Austin and Quinne. A human version of sunshine, he poured his love into his family, friends, business, and any person he came across. His kindness extended to others: he was empathetic, fair, courageous, honest, loving, and absolutely hilarious. Bruce had a contagious laugh and could make even the toughest of souls crack a smile in his presence. Bruce was the proud owner of Liberty Lanes Bowling Alley in Leipsic for over 30 years and poured his proudness and passion as a business owner into any person that stepped into Liberty Lanes. Bruce was also a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Leipsic for the entirety of his life. He will be so greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00 a.m., Friday, November 6, 2026, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Leipsic with Fr. Randy Giesige officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m., Thursday, November 5, 2026, at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic.
Bruce’s family would also like to thank the medical staff at Promedica Toledo Hospital for the kind, compassionate, and world-class care he received until the very end.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Blood Cancer United (formerly known as The Leukemia And Lymphoma Society) (bloodcancerunited.org), a cause close to Bruce and his family’s heart.
