Camillus H. Stechschulte
OTTAWA - Camillus H. Stechschulte, 89, of Ottawa died at 6:24 p.m. Monday, February 4, 2013 at The Meadows of Kalida. He was born June 24, 1923 in Putnam County to the late Leo and Addie (Meyer) Stechschulte. On November 22, 1947 he married Ruth E. Kuhlman who died November 18, 2008.
He is survived by 3 children: Tom (Pat) Stechschulte, Kay (Mike) Burkholder, and Rick Stechschulte all of Ottawa; 3 grandchildren: Wade (Jodi) Stechschulte, Terry (Linda) Stechschulte, and Jodi Burkholder; 5 great-grandchildren: Zach and Hunter Stechschulte, and Maddox, Ashton and Brynley Stechschulte; and a sister-in-law: Sally Stechschulte of Ottawa. He was also preceded in death by 2 brothers: Richard Stechschulte and Kenneth (Carol) Stechschulte and a sister: Angela (Harold) Hart.
Camillus was a lifelong contractor, a "Builder of Modern Homes." He built over 500 homes and businesses and developed multiple subdivisions. He was co-founder and one of the original directors of Ottawa Oil and was on the board of the First National Bank of Ottawa. He was an Army Air Force veteran of WWII, a life member of Ottawa American Legion, VFW,  Eagles and Lima Elks. He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Ottawa. He enjoyed polka dancing, taking bus trips, boating, and especially Ottawa-Glandorf Basketball.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 8, 2013 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa with Fr. Matt Jozefiak officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites by the Ottawa VFW and American Legion. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa where there will be a scripture service at 2:00 p.m. and a VFW service at 7 p.m. Memorials may be made to Sts. Peter and Paul School or church.
