Carl D. "Abe" Williams

Oakwood -- Carl D. "Abe" Williams, 83, of Oakwood, died 11:20 a.m. Thursday, January 21, 2016 at Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center, Defiance.  He was born May 12, 1932 in Oakwood to the late Alonzo and Emma (Grimes) Williams.  On December 12, 1959 he married Nancy Westfall, who survives.

Also surviving are his children:  Barbara (Tim) Florence and Tamara (Mike) Schmunk, both of Oakwood, Sandra (Kenny) Porter of Ayersville, and Daniel (Lynn) Williams of Continental;  8 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother:  Harold (Ruth) Williams of Oakwood and a sister:  Joyce (Bill) Buchanan of Bellevue.

Carl is preceded in death by four brothers:  Bill, Glen, Junior and Richard Williams and 4 sisters:  Gladys Klein, Grace Thrasher, Mary Copsey and Lucille Williams; and a grandson:  Joe White.

He retired from Zeller Corporation, where he had worked for more than 36 years and was a member of Oakwood Church of Christ, Oakwood.

There will be a private funeral service held at a later date, and burial will be in Sherman Cemetery.  The arrangements are under the direction of HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Oakwood.
