Obituary

Carl E. Kent

CONTINENTAL – Carl E. Kent, 82, of Continental, passed away at 12:01 p.m., Sunday, March 1, 2026, at Glenn Park Senior Living Community, Defiance. He was born January 3, 1944, in Hartsburg, Ohio to the late Glenn and Nevah (Miller) Kent. On July 11, 1970, he married th loveof his life, Brenda Crawford, in Columbia City, IN. She preceded him in death on March 28, 2025.

Carl is survived by his two children: Shelly (Jeff) Giesige and Todd (Carrie) Kent; five grandchildren: Cole (Syd) Kent, Brayden (Ariel) Auch, Hannah (Benjamin) Asebrook, Katelyn Becker and Makendal (Oliver) Auch; two great-grandchildren: Lyla and Ivy; along with his grandpuppies: Gracie and Macy; and a brother-in-law, Gene Crawford. Each person held a special place in his heart, especially Hannah and Katelyn, who helped take of his medical needs.

Carl was also preceded in death by his son, Keith Kent; brother, Kenneth Kent; and sister-in-law, Shelly Kent.

Carl retired after a long career from Defiance Precision Products, where he was active in the UAW. When Carl wasn’t working, you could find him supporting his family in whatever activities they were doing. He loved his sports! If there was a sporting event on TV, Carl was watching it! He also had a passion for John Deere Tractors and he would tell you about them if given the chance. For over 30 years, you could find Carl and Brenda camping at Jellystone in Pierceton, IN, where they made long-lasting friendships. Carl also enjoyed traveling, seeing many wonderful places in the United States with his family.

We would like to thank the staff at Glenn Park for the exceptional care they provided to Carl while he lived at Glenn Park. A special thanks to Myah Wagner, his at-home caregiver, for her compassion, care, friendship and dedication whom he had a special bond with.

Funeral services to honor Carl and the life he lived will begin at 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 6, 2026, at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Continental with Pastor Monica Kleman officiating. Carl will be buried at Prairie Chapel Cemetery, Oakwood, next to his love, Brenda, who he has missed so much this past year. Viewing will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. on Thursday and again on Friday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Highland Township Fire Department.
