Carl Lehman

MILLER CITY – Carl Lehman, 91, of Miller City, passed away on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at the Meadows of Ottawa. He was born December 23, 1934, in New Cleveland to the late William and Marcella (Kuhlman) Lehman. On September 5, 1964, he married Joan Horstman, who preceded him in death on May 13, 2026.

Carl is survived by eight children: Tim (Mary Ellen) Lehman, John (Dee) Lehman, both of Glandorf, Jim (Shelley) Lehman of Miller City, Nick (Chris) Lehman, Diane (Carl) Siefker, both of Glandorf, Karen (Matt) McCauley, Sharon (Greg) Kamphaus, both of Columbus Grove, and Roger (Katie) Lehman of Glandorf; 24 grandchildren: Adam Lehman, Brandon (Audrey) Lehman, Nicole (Tyler) Karhoff, Ross (Niki) Lehman, Megan (Joe) Karhoff, Madalyn (Kyle) Heuerman, Joshua (Elizabeth) McCauley, Hannah (Zach) Balbaugh, Makenna Lehman, Brent (Mia) Siefker, Grant McCauley, Jaden Lehman (Shayla), Lauren (John) Karhoff, Emily McCauley, Kirsten McCauley, Kylee Lehman, Carson Lehman, Nate Kamphaus, Sarah Kamphaus, Alexa Kamphaus, Victoria Lehman, Andrew Lehman, Wyatt Lehman, and Elizabeth Kamphaus; 9 great-grandchildren; a sister: Annette (Bob) Meyer of Kalida; and in-laws: Janet (Walter) Maag, Arthur Rode, Ruth Foppe, Larry Horstman, Jerome (Emma) Horstman, Len (Mary Jo) Horstman, Denny (Chris) Horstman, and Norb (Irene) Renner

In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by three siblings, Joseph (Janet) Lehman, Alvera (Fred) Verhoff, and Donna Marie (Bernard) Ellerbrock; and in-laws: Donald (Eileen) Horstman, Patricia Rode, Ron Foppe, Judy Horstman and Helen Renner.

Carl proudly served in the Ohio National Guard and retired from his career as a carpenter after more than 50 years of practice. Even after retirement, Carl was always willing to lend a hand to a family member, friend or neighbor, sharing his skills and helping with just about any project. He was a member of the Ottawa K of C, where he was a 3rd Degree Knight, and a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Miller City. Carl treasured time spent with his family, especially watching his grandchildren at their sporting events and playing cards with his siblings and in-laws. He also enjoyed tending to his garden, with his roses being a particular favorite. Above all, Carl cherished the 61 years he shared with the love of his life, Joan, creating a lifetime of memories together.

Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Miller City with Fr. Scott Perry officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites by Ottawa VFW, American Legion, AMVETS and DAV. A visitation will be held on Monday from 2 to 8 p.m. with a K of C Rosary Service at 7:30 p.m. and again on Tuesday from 9 to 10 a.m. at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa.
