CARLITA P. MERRITT
CONTINENTAL - Carlita P. Merritt, 85, of Continental died 9:45 a.m., Saturday, June 1, 2013 at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.  She was born May 31, 1928, in Sullivan County, Tenn. to the late Wence Byrl and Katie Kathryn (Malone) Perry.  On March 8, 1947, she married Alburn James Merritt, who died September 20, 1979.
She is survived by her children: Kathryn Dianne (Bruce) Dukes and Michael (Kathleen) Merritt both of Continental; 7 grandchildren; a step-grandchild; 11 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters: Charlotte Horton of Gray, TN, Thelma (Hammond) Steffey of Bluff City, TN and Joann Couch of Falls Church, VA; and a sister-in-law, Jackie Perry of Bluff City, TN.
Preceding her in death is a daughter, Donna Diemer; 2 brothers: Harley Perry and Randall Perry; and special friend Arlo Wolfe.
Carlita was a homemaker and a member of North Creek Methodist Church in North Creek, the Continental Order of Eastern Star #129 where she was Past Matron, a former Mother advisor for the Order of Rainbow Girls Defiance Assembly and a member of the New Bavaria VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading, gardening, cooking and sewing.
Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Continental with Rev. Charles Schmunk officiating.  Burial will follow in Monroe Cemetery, Continental.  Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Continental where an Easter Star service will begin at 7:00 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be donated to Putnam County CAP program or Alzheimer's Association.
