Obituary
Defiance -- Carol Ray Simon, 77, of Defiance died 1:56 a.m. Friday, August 1, 2014 at Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice. She was born April 15, 1937 in Putnam County to the late George R. and Ruth (Hiltner) Simon.
She is survived by her 3 sisters: Dorothy L. Winkle of Continental, Mary Margaret Colwell of Defiance and Sarah Jane (Larry) Ashley of Angola, IN; 4 nieces and nephews; 7 great-nieces and great-nephews; and her beloved cat.
Carol is preceded in death by 2 nephews: Greg Ashley and Dan Colwell and 2 brothers-in-law: Joseph W. Winkle and Richard "Bud" Colwell. Carol was a secretary at Wright-Russell and Bay Insurance, Toledo and Bill Rose Insurance, Defiance. She was a 1955 graduate of Continental High School and enjoyed reading, gardening, playing bridge, bowling and knitting.
There will be a private family funeral service and burial will be in Monroe Cemetery, Continental at a later date.
