Caroline C. Schmitz

GLANDORF – Caroline C. Schmitz, 79 of Glandorf, passed away at 6:08 p.m. on Friday, February 2, 2024, at Mercy Health St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.  She was born April 8, 1944, in Holgate to the late Urban and Emma (Frey) Westrick.  On May 9, 1964, she married Charles Schmitz, he preceded her in death on May 20, 2000.

Caroline is survived by five children:  Steve Schmitz, Lynne Schmitz, Tim Schmitz, all of Ottawa, Tom Schmitz of Glandorf, and Eric Schmitz of Ottawa; three grandchildren:  Brayton (Alli) Schmitz, Channing Schmitz, and Mya Schmitz; one great-grandchild: Beau Schmitz; and sisters: Edith Ott of Defiance, Irene Wenzinger of Miller City, Danilda Lee of Bowling Green, and Donna Barlage of Miller City.

She is preceded in death by a great-grandchild: Charlie Dean Schmitz; and siblings: Lawrence Westrick, Eugene Westrick, Evelyn Drummer, Paul Westrick, Mary Hyman, Harold Westrick, and Arthur Westrick.

Caroline retired from Whirlpool, Findlay.  She loved to exercise, go bowling and read books.  She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf.

Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf with Fr. Matt Keller officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and again on Wednesday from 9-10 a.m. at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa.  A parish rosary will be held on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
