Carolyn L. Balbaugh
LEIPSIC – Carolyn L. Balbaugh, 83, of Leipsic, passed away at 10:45 p.m., Thursday, April 23, 2026, at The Meadows of Ottawa surrounded by her loving family. She was born October 14, 1942, in Ada to the late Ferdinand S. and Marcella (Maag) Roof. On October 26, 1963, she married Melvin F. Balbaugh, who survives in Leipsic.
Other survivors include four children: James Balbaugh of Leipsic, Kathy (David) Luersman of Ft. Jennings, William (Melissa) Balbaugh of Wapakoneta and Steven (Jennifer) Balbaugh of Ft. Wayne, IN; nine grandchildren: Jeremy (Brooke) Balbaugh, Tyler Balbaugh, Derek (Danielle Eilerman) Luersman, Kristen Luersman, Adam (Paityn Conley) Luersman, Alyssa Luersman, Douglas (Natalie) Balbaugh, Sharolyn Balbaugh and Alisyn Balbaugh; two siblings: Sister Lou Ann Roof C.P.P.S of Dayton, Helen Brinkman of Ottawa; and two sisters-in-law: Frances Roof of Glandorf and Cynthia Reinhardt of Florida.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by two siblings: Marcus Roof, Daniel Roof; and a brother-in-law, Carl Brinkman.
Carolyn was a 1960 graduate of Glandorf High School and 1961 graduate of Northwestern School of Commerce. She was a very active member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Miller City and its Altar Rosary Society, where she dedicated 33 years making 515 Baptismal Bibs. She also took care of the church laundry for over 30 years. Carolyn loved crocheting, camping, baking, especially her famous pies, and supporting all of her grandchildren.
Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 1, 2026, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Miller City with Fr. Scott Perry officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic.
Memorial donations may be made to Putnam County Hospice or St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Miller City.
