Carolyn R. Prowant
CONTINENTAL – Carolyn R. Prowant, 76, of Continental, died 7:57 p.m. Friday, September 28, 2012 at Defiance Inpatient Hospice Care Center surrounded by her loving family after a long courageous battle with cancer. She was born March 16, 1936 in Continental to the late Carl E. and Cleo (Rockey) Parrett. On August 7, 1954, she married Donald L. Prowant who survives in Continental.
Carolyn is also survived by her children: Lynn (Jeffrey) Tegenkamp and Michael B. (Kathy) Prowant all of Continental; 7 grandchildren: Kirt (Keri) Tegenkamp, Todd (Michelle) Tegenkamp, Brooke Tegenkamp, Blair Tegenkamp, Cory (Denae) Prowant, Lindsay (Calvin) Basinger, Kyle Prowant and Marrae Lowe; 6 great-grandchildren: Hunter Tegenkamp, Bryn Tegenkamp, Kelsi Tegenkamp, Breece Prowant, Breck Prowant and Micalin Basinger; 2 sisters: Avis (Frederick) Wright of Macomb, Michigan and Dorcas Weisenburger of Continental. She is preceded in death by a brother-in-law: Robert Weisenburger.
Carolyn retired as a legal secretary for the law firm of Weaner Zimmerman, Bacon, Yoder and Hubbard in Defiance. She graduated in 1954 from Continental High School. She was a member of North Mt. Zion Church where she served as a clerk for 40 ½ years. She also worked for Home Saving & Loans Association of Defiance for 30 ½ years.
A funeral service will begin 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at North Mt. Zion Church with Pastor Brent Gibson officiating. Burial will follow in Monroe Cemetery, Continental. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Continental and one hour prior to service on Tuesday at the church.
