Carrie Lynn Leopold OTTAWA – Carrie Lynn Leopold, 58, of Ottawa, died Thursday, January 23, 2025, at her residence.  She was born February 12, 1966, in Lima to the late Theodore R. and Norma C. (Hilvers) Burgei.  On December 14, 1984, she married Thomas R. Leopold, and he survives in Ottawa. Other survivors include four children: Matt (Dr. Ashley) Leopold of Van Buren, Pastor Amy (Jeff) Remaklus of Toledo, Tom (Brandi) Leopold of Ottawa, and Justin (Jing) Leopold of Waterford, MI; 14 grandchildren and one on the way: Griffin, Briggs, Eloise, Charlotte, Harper and Hayden Leopold; Shayla, Anna, Kaylee and Caroline Remaklus; Jaxton Fuerst, Onalei, and Tom Leopold; and Madelynn Leopold; seven siblings: Ted (Chris) Burgei of New Cleveland, John (Bernice) Burgei of Ottawa, Renee (Kevin) Scott of Montpelier, Charlotte (Tony) Alt of Continental, Tony (Ashleigh) Burgei of Miller City, Dan Burgei of Miller City, and Eric Burgei of Ottawa; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. A 1984 graduate of Miller City High School, Carrie retired as branch manager of Partners 1st Federal Credit Union in McComb.  She was known for loving her family very much as a wife, mother, and grandmother.  Carrie enjoyed gardening, crocheting, camping, especially sitting by the campfire, traveling, and watching the grandchildren.  She knew and talked to everyone, never knowing a stranger. Her hospitality made all feel welcome. Funeral service will begin at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, January 30, 2025, at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, LEIPSIC with her daughter Pastor Amy Remaklus officiating.  Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
