Charley Bill Hiltner, 77, of Continental passed away Thursday, December 15, 2016 at 1:47 a.m. in the presence of his family.  He fought a good fight.  Charley Bill was born June 21, 1939 in Continental to the late Roy P. and Mary E. (Sullivan) Hiltner.  On May 20, 1972, he married Janet Kohart who survives in Continental. They were married 44 years.

Charley Bill lived quite a life.  He was an avid pilot like his father.  He was a crop duster for 30 years.  He and his wife, Janet, owned Charley Bills Country Western Café for 22 years.  He was also a substitute post office carrier for 24 years. He loved to auctioneer for benefits and charities. In his younger years he was a milkman and a rodeo clown. Charley Bill was a member of Dupont Church of the Brethren, the Ohio Flying Farmers, and the Small Time Farmers, and was a former School Board member. He did it all. But what he loved most were all his grandchildren. He was very proud of them.

Also surviving are his children: Jim (Tammy) Hiltner of Continental, Bill Hiltner of Park City, KY, Amy (Chris) Miller of Van Wert, Robin (Jim) Slattman of Lakeland, FL, and Craig (Shelby) Shisler of Oakwood; grandchildren: Levi, Kennedy, Bradley, Dylan, Miranda, Paige, Emma, Zoey, Chad, Chris, Kaylee, and Cory; 16 great-grandchildren; a brother: David (Donna) Hiltner; and a sister: Barb (Rex) Shalter. He was also preceded in death by his brother: John Hiltner.

A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Continental with his son, Pastor Jim Hiltner and Rev. Terry Porter officiating. Burial will follow in Monroe Cemetery, Continental. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
