Charles D. Korte
LEIPSIC - Charles D. Korte, 87, of Leipsic died at 4:00 p.m. Monday, January 7, 2013 at Blanchard Valley Hospital, Findlay. He was born September 28, 1925 in Kalida to the late Edward and Margaret (Erhart) Korte. On October 26, 1949 he married Leona G. Schroeder who survives in Leipsic.
Also surviving are four children: Ken (Beth) Korte of Leipsic, Peggy (George) Wilhelm of Wauseon, Jeanne Korte of Leipsic, and Jerry Korte of Findlay; ten grandchildren: Julie Korte, Dawn (Mike) Oedy, Garrett Korte, Lindsey Dohaney, Katie (John) Nault, Christopher Wilhelm, Jaclyn Wilhelm, Kimberly (James) Pierce, Chelsea Korte, and Alison Korte; six great-grandchildren: Collin and Tessa Oedy, Fhaonna Dohaney, Mason, Mady, and Makenna Nault; a brother: Elmer Korte of Kalida; a sister: Louella Cooper of Tampa, FL. and a sister-in-law: Marie Schmersal.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers: Ray and Henry Korte and four sisters: Laura Unverferth, Lucille Schimmoeller, Mary Bockrath and Mary Lou Siefker.
Charles worked at Sylvania in Ottawa and retired in 1979. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Leipsic, its Holy Name Society, and Ottawa Knights of Columbus. He loved listening to country music and was a Cleveland Indian's fan. He also enjoyed car racing. Charles loved and enjoyed his family dearly and taught funny songs to his grandchildren from the comfort of his rocking chair.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 11, 2013 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Leipsic with the Very Reverend George Wenzinger officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic where there will be a Rosary at 7:30 p.m.
