Clara L. Gerker

CLOVERDALE - Clara L. (Verhoff) Gerker died Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at her residence. She was born December 24, 1923 in Cuba, OH to the late Aloysius and Veronica (Schmiedebusch) Verhoff. On September 3, 1947 she married Urban Gerker who preceded her in death on January 26, 1991.

Surviving are four sons: Jerry (Cathy) Gerker of Blacklick, Mike Gerker and Dan (Carol) Gerker all of Cloverdale, Mark (Sue) Gerker of Delphos; three daughters: Annita (Harry) Flanagan of Delphos, Mary Ann (Art) Schmit of Grove City, and Doris Gerker of Cloverdale; two sisters:  Helen Luersman of Ottoville and Veronica Luersman of Delphos; a sister-in-law, Joan Verhoff of Charlotte, NC; sixteen grandchildren; and nineteen great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a son, James Gerker; a grandson, Stephen Gerker; three brothers: Cornelius, Elmer, and John Verhoff; sisters and brothers-in-law: Gertrude (Harold) Nienberg, Stella (Leonard) Knueven, Rita (Alvin) Kleman, Ed Luersman, and Larry Luersman.

Clara was a wonderful mother to all. She was a homemaker and worked hard on the family farm. She had a gentle and kind spirit and lived for her family. Clara was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville and its Catholic Ladies of Columbia.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville with the Very Reverend Jerome Schetter and Fr. Ryan Schmit officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Ottoville. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Friday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Township where there will be a Scripture Service at 1:45 p.m.
