Obituary

Cleo J. Liebrecht

GLANDORF – Cleo J. Liebrecht, 96, of Glandorf, passed away at 6:36 p.m., Monday, October 5, 2026 at Mercy Health St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima. He was born November 30, 1929, in Kalida to the late Lawrence and Frances (Schumaker) Liebrecht. On June 13, 1953, he married Doris Hermiller, who preceded him in death on December 5, 2022.

Survivors include four children: Judy (Barry) Falk of Harpster, Sharon (Thomas) Damon of Van Buren, Randy Liebrecht of Elida and Brad (Irene) Liebrecht of Long Beach, CA; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and four siblings: Joseph (JoAnn) Liebrecht of Delphos, Jerry (Jennifer) Liebrecht of Peoria, AZ, Mary Ann Michel of Ottawa and Carol (Gerald) Fischer of Delphos.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by four siblings: Eugene Liebrecht, Robert Liebrecht, Harold Liebrecht, and Alvera Ernst; and a brother-in-law, Dick Michel.

Cleo retired from Philips, Ottawa, where he worked in maintenance. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the Ottawa American Legion. He was also a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf. Cleo enjoyed listening to Andre Rieu, polka dancing, playing cards and was a purple martin enthusiast. He was a jack of all trades, especially wood working. Cleo loved spending time with his family and watching his grandchildren in their sporting events.

Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m., Friday, October 9, 2026, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf with Fr. Matt Keller officiating and military rites following Mass by the Ottawa American Legion, VFW, AMVETS and DAV. Burial will be at a later date in the church cemetery. A visitation will be held from 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa.

Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in memory of his wife, Doris.
